This three-hour video was created to supplement the The Weightlifting Encyclopedia book, by showing the competition lifts in their entirety and then breaking them down following the Soviet tradition of looking at the Snatch, Clean and Jerk through the lens of six stages – all with very different purposes. In addition, all of the assistance exercises refenced in the book, (e.g., squats, pulls and jerk supports) are included in the video as well, along with a few added exercises.
**This video was produced in the late 1990s and its production values are not equal to what is available even through advanced phones of today. The sound quality is below today’s standards as well. It also contains considerable material explaining the differences between, bodybuilding, power lifting and Olympic style lifting, since nadir of weightlifting’s popularity in the US occurred around the time of the video’s publication, many more people did not understand the differences among athletes who used weights. However, we are still offer the video because the technical analysis of the lifts that it offers is not readily available elsewhere and the presentation of assistance exercises has been helpful to many.
