OUR CHARITABLE WORK

An exciting new part of our work is a program that we believe has great promise – “Let’s Get Weightlifting in Our Schools”, which is outlined below.

Through our affiliated 501(c)3 charitable organization, Weightlifting.org, we support young athletes in various ways including:

  • Providing travel expenses for athletes who compete in national competitions,
  • Training scholarships for young athletes,
  • Fighting for drug-free lifting to assure that clean athletes have the opportunity to compete at the very highest levels,
  • Working to preserve this history of the sport, through this website’s Blog posts and our affiliated organizations, Weightlifting.org and the AOBS , so that young athletes understand the contributions of their predecessors

Part of our charitable work is running official USA Weightlifting local competitions, like this one, where athletes can hone their competitive skills and qualify for National events.

Here we are, working with another charitable organization, The Wendy Hilliard Foundation, at Their Harlem Girls & Women In Sports Day, where we taught young women about weightlifting.

FREE TRAINING AND OTHER SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS AND THEIR COACHES WHO
WANT TO START AN OLYMPIC-STYLE WEIGHTLIFTING PROGRAM

If you are a student at, or work at, a junior high or high school that might be willing to make space available for a weightlifting program, we can help you start one in your school. We will work with our not-for-profit charitable affiliate, to provide by providing coaching instruction, seminars for parents and children, and even loan equipment to your school through our new “Let’s Get Weightlifting Into Our Schools” program. Weightlifting programs are inexpensive and don’t require a lot of space. And they are unparalleled for building the minds and bodies of young people, regardless of their initial level of fitness, size or gender.

If you want to see whether our services and your school are a good fit, please

THE ASSOCIATION OF OLDETIME BARBELL & STRONGMEN* (AOBS)

The Association of Oldetime Barbell & Strongmen (AOBS) is an organization that has a long tradition of memorializing the history of the Iron Game (all sports using weights to transform people for their chosen purpose). Started in 1981 by Vic Boff and his Associates – the AOBS promoted gatherings of strong people from all Iron Game disciplines – bodybuilders, weightlifters, powerlifters, old school strong people of both genders.

*The “Strongmen” in our name has always implied mankind, not males exclusively or preferably.
